As part of the programme, Web Rangers are expected to design a campaign that will promote safe, savvy, and ethical use of social media and the internet.
The “Know My Digital World Campaign” is a unique and exciting opportunity for Web Rangers and their peers to build a more digitally conscious society through their campaigns! These campaigns should reflect their concerns, areas of interest and most importantly, why digital literacy matters TO WEB RANGERS!
WHAT IS THE “KNOW MY DIGITAL WORLD CAMPAIGN”?
We believe that Web Rangers are perfectly positioned to influence the country’s policy makers on issues of online safety and increase support and knowledge about how to be a responsible online citizen! Their young vibrant and energetic spirits are able to challenge negative perceptions about young people – making them powerful leaders within their school and community that can change the conversation and can champion their rights in the digital world.
Web Rangers will be given 4 months to create a campaign that spreads the message around how other young people can:
Identify illegal or negative online behaviour that might cause harm to them.
Know what to do if things get out of hand e.g. blocking people on Face Book or reporting online crimes to parents, teachers and even the police.
Take full advantage of the awesome and wonderful opportunities that the internet provides when used responsibly!
