The 2020 Web Rangers programme started with the successful launch of the 2020 Web Rangers Programme, on Safer Internet Day (SID), 11 February 2020. The programme was launched in Rustenburg, bringing together civil society, children, educators, government and the private sector to promote online safety and positive use of the internet, in line with the 2020 theme for SID.

20 of our 2019 Web Rangers Alumni attended the event and were also provided with an opportunity to launch the 2020 programme together with the programme coordinator Phakamile Khumalo. They also shared some of their knowledge on staying safe online. They also gave tips on how their peers can use similar platforms to engage others on digital literacy.

Due to the worldwide COVID- 19 pandemic, Web Ranger workshops and activities have been postponed. However, we are still active on social media and continue to lead important discussion around digital literacy.

Here are just some of the videos showcasing our work around disinformation.
